In the context of the Genoa Smart Week (25-30 November 2019), GISIG participated in a workshop dedicated to the building of a smart and resilient city.
Due to climate change, natural hazards are becoming more frequent all around the world. Also the Liguria region and the city of Genoa are suffering increasing damages, mostly derived from landslides and river floods during intense rainy events. Being a smart and resilient city means being ready to deal with these hazards, investing in prevention, management and recovery from critical situations.
These were the topics debated in the workshop: GISIG was invited to give its contribution in the Green round table (focused on the importance of biodiversity in the construction of a resilient system), bringing its expertise in sustainability, territorial management and geographical data also derived from its recent experiences in the RECONECT and EO4GEO projects.
