On behalf of the Copernicus Academy, we want to draw your attention on the open Space Call of the Horizon 2020 Work Programme.

Several of the topics could potentially be attractive to a wide variety of interested parties, including academic and research institutions, businesses, start-ups and SME’s.

Some topics are of particular interest to Copernicus:

EO-1-2017: Downstream applications
This topic focuses on downstream applications of the full, free and open data of Copernicus, and their smart integration into other technologies. The aim of this topic is to create products with Copernicus data, based on sustainable business models and a value chain market analysis.

EO-2-2017: EO Big Data shift
To ensure effective access to Copernicus data, big data technologies should be adapted to Copernicus user scenarios. This topic allows for the development of front office services for intermediate users through appropriate tools (e.g. search, visualisation, data analytics, knowledge extraction, animation of user communities, etc.).

COMPET-7-2017: Technology Transfer and Business Generators
The activity within this topic falls in between the activities performed by the ESA Business Incubation Centres, and the European Enterprise Network, and focuses on establishing a system that supports entrepreneurs with space-specific commercial and technical assistance.

The deadline for presenting proposals to this call is 1st of March 2017.
