The third General Assembly of RECONECT took place in Nice (France) from 30 September to 2 October, organized by the local partners UNS (University of Nice Sophia Antipolis). The project, which aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) to reduce hydro-meteorological risk, sees GISIG as leader of the “Dissemination and Communication” tasks and involved in the Portofino Park Demonstrator, where NBS will be implemented.

The meeting was an occasion to  summarise the first of five years of  activities (the project started in September 2018) and to set the future steps and actions.

Demonstrators and Collaborators described their areas focusing on the status of works, stakeholders engagement, indicators and monitoring, with an eye on possible challenges and issues for the upcoming period. The meeting showed high participation from all the partners, including those non-European collaborators (from Columbia, Caribbean, Taiwan among others) who came to learn from other similar experiences.

During the field visit in the Var River Basin, one of the demonstrators of the project, partners saw the works implemented in this area of high flood risk, which experienced a critical flood event in 1994.
