GISIG participated in the ASITA annual Conference (Trieste, Italy, 13 November 2019) presenting three of its projects to the audience (ARInfuse, EO4GEO and RECONECT). ASITA is one of the most important Italian events in the geomatic sector, intended for researchers, professors, professionals, public and private users operating in the various sectors of the geospatial and environmental data.
Within the ARInfuse project, GISIG and AM/FM GIS Italia organized the workshop “Augmented Reality in the management of the underground utilities”. The aim of the seminar was to present to the geomatic and geoinformation community the preliminary results of ARInfuse, showing how Augmented Reality can be implemented in multiutilities in order to improve performance and optimize human and financial resources. The seminar saw the participation of training providers and of IT, GIS and utility sector professionals coming from all over Italy.
During the parallel sessions, the EO4GEO project was introduced to the public, focusing in particular on the objectives of the project and on the outcomes to be produced (realisation of a Body of Knowledge in the Earth Observation and Geographical Information sector, design of curricula and training courses).
Finally, in the plenary session two posters were presented, one about EO4GEO and the other on the Portofino Park, one of the study areas of RECONECT. The poster was focused on the monitoring of the area (with LiDAR data and hydro-meteo stations) and the interventions that will be implemented within the project, in order to mitigate hydro-meteorological risks.
